Intranet Content Editor Upgrade for AXA UK
Development of replacement rich text editor component for bespoke content management system
About the client
AXA UK Corporate Systems support a number of applications for AXA’s different UK operating companies; AXA PPP Healthcare, AXA Personal Lines, AXA Commercial Lines & AXA Wealth. This includes the individual companies Intranet’s and Card Payments Portal used by AXA’s ecommerce websites.
AXA's intranet solution was built for Internet Explorer 6 and the text editor used had a dependency on a DHTML control available in Windows XP which was removed from all subsequent versions of Windows. AXA was due to move to Windows 7 imminently and required the Intranet to work on the new platform.
We replaced the text editor with TinyMCE which is used in WordPress and Umbraco as the default rich text editor. In order to make it what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) we also retro fitted the Blueprint CSS Grid system into the solution and refactored the code. This enabled the Intranet to not only work on Windows 7, but also meant it could be used on any browser making it fully future proof.
